Down For Gowns

This week has been a good one for me, or generally speaking, this blog. I've been trying to get my name out there again, and last time I did that, I got 65 comments on average on each post. Ah, it's funny how the amount of comments can take over one's life. In other news, I got a Twitter account for Take Me Out to the Runway! If you're on Twitter, take a look here and if you wish, feel free to follow me!

Anyway, I've come to the conclusion that I just may be an online shop-a-holic. Well ... I actually came to that realization quite some time ago, but the magnitude of it has just recently hit me. Let's put this into perspective here: lately, I've been searching all over the internet for senior prom dress designs. Now, that doesn't sound so bad, but it might when I say that my next prom is ... June 2011. Not to mention the fact that my junior prom was only a few weeks ago. The good thing about my obsession is that I've found a ton of beautiful gowns that I'd love to share!

I've been looking at a lot of vintage wedding dresses, and I seem to find that the detailing on the bottoms just fascinate me. All of the layers and lace ... it's like Christmas in my mind. Sorry that I don't have designer names; I just had these photos saved on my computer titled as "kjahgljfshgaksj" and "Untitled_1". Real helpful.

Now, I know the designer for these two. Of course, the fabulous Christian Dior would simply delight my taste in dresses, especially the second one. It looks quite like the one Miley Cyrus wore for the Oscars, no?

Here are some of my other favorites that I stumbled upon:

My very favorite one, however, is in this month's issue of Harper's BAZAAR on page 66. It's a Cristobal Balenciaga design from the 1950s, and I'm in love with it! I can't find a picture, however, so if someone has one, I would love it if you could send it to me! Check out more 1950s gowns; it is my absolute favorite era for dresses!

  5. The two Christian Dior are simply magnificent !

    XOXO, C.

  6. those are so stunning. When ball gowns are done right, the final result can be so amazing.

  7. Every dress is amazing! I wish we had the tradition of prom here, but we don´t. But maybe that´s a good thing, I don´t have to look for dresses, ´cause if I did I´d probably be like you and start looking a year before i had to :)

  8. I love that one in Baazar too, and I love Miley's dress, just not on Miley.

  9. You can never start planning for your prom too early! I was always *obsessed* with planning for my proms, so I can totally understand why you want to start planning for the perfect dress so early! And I reeeeeeally love that 2nd one you posted, it is so beautiful! :)

  10. christian dior, givenchy and balenciaga are my favourites of this post. love them!

  11. Seems like you've got a thing for decadence! These gowns are all gorgeous, the shape you want is gorgeous. Whatever you do end up getting, you should just stick a tule skirt underneath to make it fuller!

  12. Thank you! I can´t wait to wear it on those summer days! (which never seem to come!)

  13. These gowns are absolutely STUNNING. OMG.

  14. There are so so so so pretty and amazing...
