Anita Quansah ... Saving The World One Design At A Time.

I'm back home! Isn't it ironic how refreshing it feels to finally be home after a vacation when you vacationed to be refreshed in the first place? I feel as if I've been gone forever ... by the looks of my email, it certainly seems so! Now, after a few hours, I've finally caught up with responding to everyone's comments (thank you so much, by the way!), and I'm ready to post something I've been waiting a while to put up.

I was extremely honored to be contacted by Anita Quansah a few weeks ago regarding her designs. After taking a look at her website, I knew immediately that I wanted to feature a few of her creations. Anita is a designer from London, UK who produces eclectic stylish and expressive one-off pieces of clothing and neckpieces that fuse together timeless sophistication with great originality using recycled and vintage materials.



After studying textile design at Chelsea College of Art and Design, London, Anita Quansah has been working to develop and promote recycled textiles, by creating intricate pieces for fashion and interior. She has created pieces for leading fashion and textile design houses such as DKNY, Diane Von Furstenberg, Ischiko, Victoria Secret, Ecko and textiles Weisbrod Zurrer and Sandy Starkman. One of her most recent collaborations was with Christian Lacroix in 2004; she designed a beautiful jacket for his Haute Couture show in Paris.



Anita's designs are quickly gaining popularity. They've been featured in editorials such as Deutch Vogue, Deutch Elle, British Vogue, Elle UK.com, Dare2magazine, Muse, German Tush, Pref and Vision. I knew I had to add Take Me Out to the Runway to her ever-growing list of raving reviews! Most recently, Anita Quansah has been designing a jewelry collection that she describes as "effortless chic with a modern twist, inspired by my passion for creativity, travel, nature, art, architecture, fashion and music of past and present generations". Each piece is handmade in UK using vintage fabrics fused with reclaimed textiles, incorporating mixed metals, silver, gold, gunmetal and the introduction of colourful elements such as pearls, beads, rhinestones, ribbons and fringing giving the collection a sense of modernity with a hint of the past.
