The Bracelet That Is Changing Lives

I believe that jewelry is the fruit of life. There is nothing more extravagant than a new necklace or a stunning pair of earrings to make an outfit explode with your own personality. A perfect piece of jewelry can tone down an outfit, can dress up an outfit, and can all around make a statement.

If your jewelry means something, it is that much more impressive. You may remember my 823 Key Project post a while back. For those who don't recall, the 823 Key Project is an organization selling skeleton key necklaces made from vintage materials, each one marked with its own number. All of the money raised from purchases go towards a grant awarded to one musician, artist, writer, etc. I bought one ... I actually wore it today! Please check out this organization if you haven't already!

Anyway, I found another organization that is making jewelry for a cause. Same Sky bracelets are taking the fashion world by storm, slowly finding themselves on the wrists of today's most influencial celebrities, such as Miss Teen USA, Miss USA, Miss Universe, and Halle Berry. These gorgeous blown glass orb bracelets are made by artisan women in Rwanda. All of these artisans are survivors of the 1994 genocide, and they work together to help each other survive. Each bracelet is a unique inspiration that carries the Rwanda womens' stories, stories of survivial, prosperity, and love. These brave women, although HIV-positive, create these lovely pieces to spread awareness. Each bracelet is emblazoned with the signature of its creator, leaving a personal message behind.

Same Sky bracelets carry a simple beauty that makes any outfit elegant. I promise you, if you purchase one of these bracelets, you will have people from all over admiring the stunning piece of jewelry adorning your arm. This issue really hit home for me, since I have seen so many people affected with this disease. It is on the rise, but if everyone sticks together and helps each other out, I know that we can find a cure. Please take a look at the Same Sky website here. It inspired me, and I hope that together, we can raise awareness for HIV and AIDS.

One more thing: I'd like to thank everyone for an amazing week. I've reached almost 200 followers on Facebook, 68 on my brand new Twitter account, and 137 on the Google follower tool. I'm touched by each and every one of your comments; it flatters me to see how much people appreciate this site. I've been interviewed for my local newspapers, and an article should be coming out in my local town papers soon; I'll keep you all posted! Oh, and one more surprise ... a giveaway just might be coming up! Stay tuned! Ciao for now!

  6. What a great cause - I love knowing that not only are you getting a gorgeous piece of jewelry, but your money is being used in a charitable way, not just going into the pocket of a giant corporation!
