A Letter to My Beloved:

To my darling Nicholas Kirkwood:

Ever since I laid eyes on your electric blue angels that topped nearly every woman's "I-Must-Have-This-Immediately" list, I have been in love with your work. Scratch that; I've been infatuated with it.



The shoes you create simply stun the breath right out of me. The buckles, the suede, the patterns, the platforms ... in each of my dreams, I'm drifting through the clouds, gazing not ahead, but down at my Kirkwood-clad feet.



When I caught wind of your 2009 Autumn/Winter collection, I was so in shock that I was unable to even formulate the words to create a post about it. Now that my head is somewhat clear, I will attempt to do you justice. Mr. Kirkwood, I have three words for you: You. Are. Genius.



It's chiaroscuro at it's finest, with the light, the dark, and the contrast between the two. You make each shoe look delicate, hardy, sexy, and sophisticated all at the same time. How do you do it?



Nicholas, you have reached the height of shoe design with this collection (pun completely intended). The geometrics are right on point, the fur eye-catching without being too wild, and the signature buckles as gorgeous and sophisticated as ever. The one thing that I regret is that I couldn't possibly afford to call them all my own.





Thank you for being my idol, my savior, and my shoe-design icon. Thank you for allowing the world to see your incredible talent, and subtly sharing it by allowing us to wear your designs. Most importantly, Nicholas Kirkwood, thank you for never failing to add to the world of fashion in a way that will never be forgotten.
