Zipper-De-Doo-Dah ...

"Zest is the secret of all beauty. There is no beauty that is attractive without zest." - Christian Dior (influential French fashion designer; b. January 21, 1905-October 24, 1957)

New York's Fashion Week is always a huge event, bursting with the season's latest trends and styles. This spring's show was no exception. This season, the runway was filled with the hottest new looks, my personal favorite being zippered accents. From clothing to shoes to accessories, these embellishments have begun to be spotted nearly everywhere.

Dresses such as 3.1 Phillip Lim's Winding Zipper Dress have been especially popular. eLuxury prices this black beauty at $895. Try pairing it with a pair of strappy sandals or heels.

Shirts with zippered accents have also appeared in more than a few places. Also by 3.1 Phillip Lim, this white tanktop will have you begging to try it on. Barney's prices it at $575.

Zippered detailing on shoes ... now that's a fashion statement if I've ever seen one! Michael Kors features several zippered designs, such as the 'Berkley' Sandal. What I wouldn't give to slip my feet into a pair of those! Get them at Nordstrom's for only $128.95.

If you're like me, you love a great deal. Wet Seal's 'Stud Zipper Gladiator' and 'Zipper Front Heel' certainly make the cut, at the prices of only $14.50 and $26.50, respectively.

Bags are yet another one of my passions. I love them all, especially the big ones. So, it's without a surprise that I adore the Kooba 'Ryder' Zip Detailed Tote, coming in colors such as pink, yellow, black, and blue. The bag goes for $595 at Nordstom.

Do you prefer clutches? Try Christian Louboutin's Zip-Detail Clutch, priced at $1,295.

I've been very "skirt-happy" lately, especially the ones sporting the layered look. This is why my Pick-of-the-Day is a skirt part of the Marc Jacobs collection, titled 'Chain Link Tiered Skirt'. The accenting is gorgeous; it's just begging to be worn with gold heels! (Michael Kors 'Berkley' ring a bell?!) Everything about this piece I love; the detailing, the material ... just everything. So, without further ado, I present to you my Pick-of-the-Day.

  2. Great post. I am OBSESSED with zipper details. Especially on bags and shoes. And that Marc Jacobs skirt is to die for. If only I had $568.85 to spare (I think I only have the 85¢).
